DamnYnke is a partnership of two breeders who have 30+ combined years of experience breeding and showing purebred cats. Traci started out breeding under the name Rocquoone in 1988. Mark started with Egyptian Maus in 1998, moving to Maine Coons in 2005. We met in the cat fancy when we lived in Richmond, VA.
Our cats are registered with CFA and TICA. We are actively involved in our local CFA cat club, and Mark is a licensed CFA clerk. Damnynke is a member of the CFA Breed Council. Traci has spent a lot of time working against anti-breeder legislation, and for reasonable health and welfare legislation. She is currently working in Prince William county to help establish a TNR (trap, neuter, return ) program to aid the feral cats. She's been involved in various health related ventures including an online database for health screening test results. We simply care about the health of the breed, and the freedom and responsibility we have as breeders.
Why the name DamnYnke? The Maine Coon cat has long born the nickname "That Yankee Cat". There is much folklore and mystery surrounding the origin of the breed, but we all agree that they started out as Yankees.
Anyone below the Mason-Dixon line will tell you that a Damn Yankee is a Northerner who visits the South, and stays. Hence, DamnYnke Maine Coon Cats.

We are a small, home based cattery where the cats are all considered our pets, as well as our hobby.
We sometimes have kittens or adult cats available to approved homes. Our cattery is our home, therefore we do not have "open for business" hours. Cats, when available, are shown by appointment only, to pre-screened potential owners.
DamnYnke's policy is that we do not ship kittens.
